Session 1:  Forgiveness – (February 2008)

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love for us in that this; while we were still sinners Christ died for us”

The three key points are:

-         God’s Love

-         Our sin

-         Christ dying (The Cross)

Genesis Ch. 1 – 3 is absolutely vital to understanding why the world is like it is, what sin is, how it has spoiled everything and how God views it. We are to elevate this from ‘story level’ to central to Christian teaching.

The seriousness of sin, God views it as deserving death. What we do and are matters – original sin, nature of sin.

But who took the punishment?

 Who paid the price?

Christ Romans 3:25 “God presented Him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in His blood”

The Cross is central to everything

-         Christ was our substitute

-         Christ paid the penalty and the punishment

-         Christ’s blood was the price paid for us (redemption)

-         Christ justified us (Rom 5:9)

-         Christ was cursed for us (Galatians 3:13)

This is God’s love for us.

Everyone is the same before the cross “All we have sinned and fall short of the God’s Glory……”

Attitude of cross always before us
